Villa Annie is a contemporary-chic stone villa, tucked away in private gated grounds in north-western Crete. Just 2.7km from the pretty narrow streets of Douliana village, this elegant property catches the eye with its wrap-around sun terraces and ocean and mountain backdrop. The large infinity pool is a villa indulgence – stylishly paired with loungers, umbrellas and quirky seating like the nested egg chair. A rattan seating area, complete with pretty lantern lights, is a great spot for pre-or-post dinner drinks, while a covered dining and outdoor kitchen area gives you the option to dine al fresco during the scorching summer months.

The contemporary character continues into the main house, where a sleek grey and white interior combines with modern lighting and wooden features. Beneath a vaulted ceiling, the large lounge opens out to a stylish dining area, while the spacious kitchen comes fully equipped with an oven, microwave and chrome-finished American-style fridge/freezer. There are three bedrooms in the villa – a twin which can be made up as a king on the lower ground floor, and two king size bedrooms on the second floor. Furnished with whitewashed walls and an en suite shower room, all of the bedrooms are bright and spacious, and lead out to a private balcony or terrace overlooking the grounds or sea views.
