The inspiration for beautiful Villa Amethyst came originally from the design of a traditional Sri Lankan bungalow. However, combined with Moroccan and Mediterranean influences, and inspired by Sri Lanka’s mesmerising jungle scenery and ocean landscapes, its owner, interior designer Chlöe Elkerton, has transformed Villa Amethyst into something else entirely. With classic white walls and each room being beautifully furnished with a bright pastel palette and very close attention to detail, Elkerton has perfectly designed the ideal home away from home, giving this villa a spacious, open-air atmosphere infused with real magic and beauty.

The villa contains four en suite bedrooms, all of which include are air conditioned and contain cooling ceiling fans. Three of the bedrooms are king-sized, with the last containing a cosy set of twin beds, with an additional cloakroom in addition to the four ensuites as well. Villa Amethyst’s living room is spacious with very high ceilings, giving an open sense of airiness to the room and just outside peacefully sits an artfully designed veranda where you can lounge on the additional seating spaces as you look out over the far-reaching Sri Lankan countryside. The villa is fully staffed and contains its own private yoga studio so that you can relax and feel properly pampered. With its excellent in-house chef, you can dine in luxury, outside in one of the beautiful outdoor dining spaces under the terrace or pergola.

The property also contains two acres of tranquil garden space, all filled with the calming songs of birds and tropical wildlife. The garden contains a large swimming pool lined with sunbeds as well so that you can relax, and with the beach just a five-minute walk away as well, this villa is not only picture perfect, but it is also in the perfect location.

A holiday here can be as relaxed or active as you wish. Immerse yourself in the gorgeous infinity pool, Learn how to make hoppers and curries with the villa chef. Head to the beach to relax or go surfing/bodyboarding. Take a guided bicycle ride through Galle’s rural hinterland. Visit a lowland tea factory for tasting sessions and tours. Embark on coastal cruises or whale/dolphin watching in season. Tour the atmospheric streets of the history-laden Galle Fort with excellent restaurants, boutique shopping and sunset views over historic sites. Relax with an in-villa massage or beauty treatment.
