Situated on the island of Pulau Gaya, just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu, lies the luxurious Gaya Island Resort. It‘s nestled on a lush rainforest hillside fringed by a sandy beach and surrounded by the beautiful coral reefs along Malohom Bay. This is an idyllic natural sanctuary from which you can see Mount Kinabalu on the horizon.

Gaya Island Resort

Nature lovers will appreciate Gaya Island as it’s set within the protected Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, a group of five islands located off Kota Kinabalu. Gaya Island Resort Marine Centre is reached by a short boat ride and is a great place to visit, with its coral nursery, coral display tanks and Turtle Rescue Centre. In the local area, there are fishing excursions, dive programmes and guided nature walks where you may catch sight of Probiscis Monkeys and Red Giant Flying Squirrel.

Other excursions and experiences can be arranged including sunset cruises, snorkelling expeditions, the Bajau Laut Beach Barbecue and Tailored Trails of Borneo.

Facilities at the resort include a 40 metre swimming pool with floating cabanas and a wading pool for children. Relaxation chambers are located nearby and there’s a pool bar and lounge for refreshments. There’s also a fully equipped gym, library and the luxurious Spa Village which offers a wide range of body treatments.

Feast Village: Enjoy a fantastic interactive dining experience and delicious Asia-Pacific cuisine at Feast Village – open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, located by the pool and it has stunning views of the beach and Mount Kinabalu.


Fisherman’s Cove: This rooftop restaurant has the most wonderful views of Mount Kinabalu and serves exquisite seafood themed dishes prepared from fresh ingredients.

Omakase: A two-storey hillside restaurant surrounded by verdant rainforest. Specialises in Japanese omakase-style dining.


There’s also the Pool Bar & Lounge or you can take a short 5-minute boat ride from the resort and enjoy a pre-ordered gourmet picnic at Tavajun Bay. Private dining experiences can also be arranged and are a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion or simply help create a lasting holiday memory.
