Torre Melina, a Gran Meliá Hotel: Tranquil Luxury Meets Beach Club Energy in Barcelona
As a UK-based travel agent, I make it my mission to find the hotels that truly stand out. Whether for their location, service, style, or that little something extra. On a recent site inspection and hosted lunch at the newly reimagined Torre Melina, a Gran Meliá Hotel, I found a Barcelona property that ticks all those boxes and more...
Set in the leafy and exclusive Pedralbes district, Torre Melina is a peaceful, five-star oasis just a short drive from the buzz of central Barcelona. The hotel’s elegance, combined with its lush gardens and a brand-new Beso Beach Club, makes it a top recommendation for clients seeking a refined yet relaxed city escape.
Elegant, Elevated, and Exceptionally Welcoming
Although I didn’t stay overnight, my site tour gave me a great feel for the property. The hotel has been beautifully redesigned with understated luxury in mind, lots of natural light, calming tones, and spacious rooms that open out to views of the city or gardens.
The RedLevel rooms and suites offer an extra tier of service and privacy, including access to a tranquil lounge, personalised check-in, and even butler-style touches, ideal for honeymooners, VIPs, or anyone wanting an elevated experience.
Beso Pedralbes: Barcelona’s Chic New Beach Club
Without a doubt, the highlight of my visit was lunch at Beso Pedralbes, the hotel’s brand-new Beso Beach Club. Inspired by the laid-back elegance of its famous counterparts in Formentera and Ibiza, this Barcelona outpost is a sophisticated urban escape complete with white sand, hammocks, loungers, and Balearic beats.
It felt more like a luxury resort than a city hotel, and judging by the atmosphere, it’s already a hit with both hotel guests and stylish locals. The menu showcases a Basque-Mediterranean fusion with a strong focus on premium seafood. Around me, I saw dishes like grilled lobster, mussels, seafood rice, and prawns being served, and they looked absolutely incredible.
Although I’m not vegetarian myself, I happened to go meat and fish-free that day, and I was really impressed by the vegetarian options available. I enjoyed a light and flavourful burrata with heirloom tomatoes, grilled vegetables with romesco sauce, and a fresh, zesty salad that perfectly suited the sunny garden setting. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour—and the team were more than happy to tailor dishes to my preferences.
Why Torre Melina Works So Well for UK Travellers
After visiting, I’m confident this hotel will appeal to a range of clients, and here’s why:
A peaceful escape that feels like a resort – Great for couples, luxury weekenders, and even business travellers wanting downtime.
Only 10–15 minutes from central Barcelona – Easily accessible by car or metro (Zona Universitària station nearby).
RedLevel upgrade is worth the splurge – Adds exclusivity, privacy, and personal service to an already high-end experience.
Beso Beach Club is a major lifestyle bonus – It turns a five-star city hotel into a full experience, ideal for those who want dining, sunbathing, and music without leaving the property.
Great for pre- or post-cruise, twin-centre or longer stays – Works well as part of a wider Spanish or Mediterranean itinerary.
Final Thoughts
My visit to Torre Melina was short but impressive. The combination of its serene setting, elegant design, warm service, and the vibrant Beso Pedralbes Beach Club makes it a standout choice for clients who want more than just a base in the city.
Even without sampling the famous seafood dishes, I was blown away by the quality of the cuisine and the energy of the setting. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a lifestyle experience, perfect for those who appreciate a little luxury, a lot of space, and a taste of Barcelona from a more exclusive angle.
If you‘d like help booking Torre Melina or crafting a tailor-made Barcelona itinerary with a luxury edge, I’d love to help.
