Thailand - a fusion of contrasting experiences

This has to be one of my favourite destination_blogs ............ Vibrant cities, exotic islands, world renowned spas, tribal villages, stunning beaches .... Thailand really does have it all.   I've been to Thailand a few times and it always offers something different ... Bangkok, the capital, promises to intrigue and excite, with its ancient temples, Grand Palace, golden Buddhas, street markets and vibrant night-life.  Personally I think that most people should combine this colourful city with a trip to the North part of the country plus a beach stay at the end, providing the time you have will accommodate that .. Having done this trip, I would recommend that you visit Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, cultural must sees.  They boast over 300 temples, and from here you can also elephant trek through the jungle to see the rural living of the local hill tribes.  The last time I was there I took a trip with a local guide along the Mekong River, and stopped on route to visit some of the ancient temples carved into the hillside - a truly memorable experience. When you've had your cultural fill, then Thailand has some of the most amazing beaches in the world, with world class hotels and spas to match.  Most are set on their own secluded private beaches with crystal blue waters and fine powdery soft sand, the most idyllic tropical escape you could wish for .....     When you're ready to leave the dull grey tones of the UK behind and head off to the sunnier climes of Thailand, please send me an email so that I can help build your perfect itinerary ..... nathalie@designertravel.co.uk
