Tallin for 2- Von Stackelberg Hotel
Tallin for 2- Von Stackelberg Hotel
Von Stackelberg hotel -Tallin
I have just stayed at this beautiful historic hotel, and really wanted to tell you more about it. Originally built in 1874, it has a sense of regality, it has undergone a massive renovation in recent years which is an on going project as the property is so old. The walls are lime stone and am sure they could tell a tale or two. It is located so close to the edge of the old town and a 10 minute walk will get you to Freedom Square, where the old town begins with its cobbled streets and old historic buildings, such a pretty city and very walkable.
Over the road is a pub which offers good local food and drinks- open until 9pm then thee is also a coffee and cake place called Kiosk One where you can get hot drinks and alcohol until around 10pm ( depending on the time of year) please give it a try and say hello to Mark. All the staff are very attentive and helpful- English is the 2nd language so no barriers there.
The hotel has different room categories ranging from the lead in standard room to Zen deluxe rooms, beautifully designed- with massive wooden windows which let in plenty of light in the day time but have heavy dark curtains for night time. A word or warning the bottle of water and wine left out do have a price tag- please don’t think they are free. Breakfast is a serve yourself buffet- with so much choice for all nationalities to enjoy, from full cooked breakfast to cereal, breads cold cuts and cheese, pickles and herring The hotel has a restaurant that is open to all which is a wine bar as well- good priced food here compared to other places we ate. The outside dining and drinking area is so pretty and perfect for that last drink before the sun goes down, very pretty.
It has a conference centre which was in use for 2 of the nights I was there – one for a wedding and one for a Christmas convention where Santa and his wife were in attendance.
Suited mainly to couples this 4 * hotel I feel if well priced for the quality.
Hotel Zen Spa has elegant treatment rooms, a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna and a Japanese-style jacuzzi.
The train station is around 10 minutes walk for the hotel and here you have an amazing market with fresh produce and dining experiences – you must give it a try.
Down load BOLT which is the local equivalent to UBER and is so much cheaper than a Taxi- a Taxi from the airport to the hotel was 34 Euros which a BOLT back was just under 10 Euros.
Totally recommend this hotel.
