Silverseas Norwegian Fjord Cruise on the Silver Dawn
Silverseas Norwegian Fjord Cruise on the Silver Dawn
Back home now from an incredible trip to the Norwegian Fjords on the Silver Dawn. The service, food, accommodation, ship was all impeccible and could not find fault with anything. All the staff were friendly and would go out of their way to ensure we were happy and had everything we needed. The included trips were great and plenty to choose from - we had a gondola ride, tram ride with a tour of a fort, speed boat tour (at a supplement and was worth every penny!), boat trip and sightseeing tour/hike to a waterfall and some amazing scenary. I must admit the Fjords are beautiful and if you are lucky with the weather which we were most of the time you will not be disappointed. Our suite was very spacious and we were able to ask for what ever drinks we wanted in our fridge, canapes and caviar were aplenty (not a fan of caviar so forgo this but the canapes were delicious). Room service also was included so if you actually felt peckish at midnight they would bring you pretty much anything. Plentiful champagne/cocktails and the food in all the restaurants was just amazing. They even put on a chocolate extravaganza in one of the lounges with amazing chocolate artwork and many, many different chocolate deserts to try. I couldn‘t eat them all but the ones I tried were delicious! The entertainment was varied from songs from the musicals, queen tribute, jazz band, a great pianist who did improv songs about some of the guests he had chatted to and were willing to partake (my son was one of them and he had him up playing the maracas and his song was so funny and clever). There were quiz sessions, putting competitions, dance classes, bingo, cookery lessons learning about the local food and traditions, a quiet library for cards/backgammon/puzzles etc and much much more. The ship only holds 596 passengers so never felt busy (apart from disembarkation day which was expected) and we were able to try all the restaurants we wanted which our butler took care of the reservations and ensured we got in as some were waitlisted. I am truly grateful to Silversea Cruises UK&I Travel Agents agents for giving us this amazing trip, it has been a great start to our cruising portfolio. Now only 12 days till our next cruise which will be on a much bigger ship so watch this space! I have a lot of photos of our week on board and happy to share if required - just get in touch.
