Silversea - Silver Ray - Luxury Cruise

Silversea Cruises

On the 7th of November 2025, I had the pleasure of taking a short cruise Silverseas newest cruise ship โ€“ Silver Ray

So what can I tell you about my Silversea ship โ€“ Silver Rayโ€ฆ..

Launched in 2024 Silver Ray is the newest ship in the Silversea fleet. Launched in 2024 Silver Ray is Silverseas NEWEST and second Nova Class ship, she mirrors every aspect of her sister ship, Silver Nova, including a pioneering, asymmetrical design and extraordinary use of glass in both public areas and in suites for uninterrupted views wherever you are!

Silver Ray is also one of the most spacious ships ever built, offering an exceptionally high space-to-guest ratio. Silversea Silver Ray is:-
- A 54,700-gross-ton luxury cruise ship
- With a capacity of 728 passengers
- And 556 crew members
- With 9 Decks (I'm stayed in a Deluxe Veranda Suite on Deck 9 โ€“ 9032)
- Many suites offer a 270-degree view from sea to sky and complimentary Wi-Fi, in-suite dining, 24-hour room service,
- She has hybrid-power technology for sustainability
- Silver Ray has extensive dining and relaxation options

Sustainability, Silver Ray is:-
- Hybrid-powered using a combination of LNG, fuel cells, and batteries, with a Micro Auto Gasification System (MAGS) to reduce waste. This can lead to a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to previous classes of ships

Dining, Silver Ray features:-
- Multiple dining venues, including specialty restaurants like Kaiseki and La Dame, and a destination-inspired S.A.L.T. Kitchen that changes its menu nightly based on the ship's location.

Bars and lounges - Silver Ray has:-
- Bars such as the Arts Cafรฉ, the Panorama Lounge, the Pool Bar, the S.A.L.T. Bar, and the Dusk Bar

Entertainment - Silver Ray has:-
- Venues including the Venetian Lounge for shows and lectures, a casino, and Silver Note for live music and tapas.

Wellness - Silver Ray has:-
- The Otium Spa, which features an indoor pool, treatment rooms, a fitness centre, and a beauty salon.

I boarded the ship in Rome port and was promptly greeted by my butler Tikio who was very attentive and poured me a glass of champagne for me to sail away from Rome. As a Silversea guest your butler is on hand to stock your mini, bar with your favourite alcoholic and none alcoholic drinks, provide pre-dinner canapes, assist with laundry requests, shoe cleaning and much more, I think I was very low maintenance as I made no requests, but itโ€™s assuring to know that you have a butler on hand to enhance your experience.

Dinner on the first evening (Friday) was at Atlantide restaurant, I also managed to try out S.A.L.T bar for pre dinner drinks and speciality cocktails and some time to watch part of the show, followed by the Panorama lounge with post dinner and show DJ and dancing too!

On Saturday morning we sailed into Livorno, Tuscany, I had breakfast at La Terrazza, restaurant and then I had a wonderful S.A.L.T experience (Sea And Land Tasting) where we were booked into a cookery class to prepare and cook a local Italian dish, what a brilliant activity and highly recommended, these activities are super popular so pre-booking is advised.

After docking in Livorno, Tuscany I took the free shuttle bus into Livorno town, a lovely town with amazing indoor and outdoor markets and a great vibe.

Lunch back on the ship was at La Terrazza again before grabbing some sun on deck, and dinner was at S.A.L.T - the food, service and attention to detail is second to none with Silversea

On Sunday we arrived into Monte Carlo, Monaco โ€“ waking up to the view of Monte Carlo from the Silversea Silver Ray ship was simply stunning!

I had breakfast in La Terrazza restaurant, followed by a fabulous tour of the โ€œbridgeโ€ from our Captain Giovanni Schiaffino where I got to sit in the captains chair, I then toured the rest of the areas on the ship I hadnโ€™t seen, including the gorgeous spa. On Sunday I had lunch in the Japanese restaurant Kaiseki and after initially planning to explore Monte Carlo on foot, I decided to take a โ€œHop on, hop offโ€ Red bus tour in Monaco to see the best of the sites, with a visit to the infamous Monte Carlo Casino, featured in the James Bond Film โ€“ Casino Royal, followed by a cocktail sat outside the Cafe De Paris in the sunshine, watching the World go by
Monaco is absolutely stunning, Iโ€™d love to return here for a short break!

On return to the ship, I was able to have afternoon tea, where the staff (upon some persuading) were able to cater for my gluten free needs with a range of 3 cakes. I then had a few hour on Saturday after my mooch around Monte Carlo, so I was able to enjoy an hour in the Otium Spa, using the sauna, steam room and thermal pool, you donโ€™t need to book for this, you can just check-in at the spa for access and they provide a free locker key, they also have a huge array of well-being and beauty treatments that you can pre-book for a fee too

Dinner on the last evening was at La Terraza, this is usually a buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch, but changes into an a la carte restaurant in the evening, on the Saturday night this was an Italian restaurant, the food, service, wine pairing and attention to detail by the Silversea staff was second to none.

On Monday we arrived into Marseille and disembarked after breakfast

So what did I like most about Silversea:-
โ€“ The space on the ship, despite the ship being full, the space to guest ratio makes Silver Ray one of the most spacious ships ever built with a space to guest ratio of 75 GRT per passenger.
- The quality and range of food and dining
- The suites my deluxe verandah suite was exquisite

I have no hesitation in recommending a Silversea Cruise and the Silver Ray ship in particular for their cruise
