I have just returned from the most amazing trip to Northern India and just have to share, not only the hotels I stayed in but also the whole experience which will follow on my next blogs.
The first hotel we stayed in was The Oberoi Udaivilas which is in Udaipur, voted one of top hotels in the world and I can see why! The hotel is spread over fifty acres, which includes a twenty-acre wildlife sanctuary with deer and wild boar. The Udaivilas gardens are truly stunning and they lead down to Lake Pichola; one of the 7 lakes that gives Udaipur its name of 'The Romantic City of Lakes'.
We were met on arrival by a member of staff from every department and sprinkled with rose petals, then after a champagne reception shown to our rooms...
My room was a Premier Room with Semi Private Pool which was truly stunning end extremely spacious, with two large sofas, a very comfortable King Size bed in the main room, a separate dressing room with walk in wardrobes and an oversized luxurious bathroom featuring separate shower, dual vanity counters and a large freestanding bath tub with views out over the lake to the city of Udaipur. I didn't get chance to use the services of the 24 hour butler that was available but WOW, what a great service!
Other rooms I saw were Premier Rooms with and without Pool View, Luxury Suites with Private Pool and the Presidential Suite - all of which were fabulous.
I did manage to fit in a trip to the spa of course and was lucky enough to experience a 60 minute Balinese massage which was incredible...I skipped the gym as I forgot to pack my trainers!! But for those into keeping fit, the hotel does boast a fitness centre, volleyball court and 2 main swimming pools (one adult only) as well as the private pools attached to certain rooms.
Now onto the dining.....
I was lucky enough to experience a variety of dining experiences.... breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurants, a Lakeside Dinner with fantastic views over the lake, Afternoon Tea on the lake and even cooked my own lunch one day (with the help of the chef) Food is exceptional with a variety of choice for everyone.
Lastly I have to mention the staff - I was overwhelmed by the service from all levels. All staff attend the 'Oberoi School' to ensure the levels and standard of service across all hotels is consistent. Very friendly yet professional and always with huge smiles.
Cant wait to return....
Watch out for my future blogs when I will share the rest of my wonderful India trip and other hotels I stayed in.
