New York, New York!!

New York, New York!!

New York, JP New York, JP There is nowhere quite like it, as the buzz of New York is something that you can never tire of! It is a vibrant city with so much to offer. With an amazing contrast between modern and art deco architecture there is constantly something to catch your eye. Go high, and take in the Manhattan view from the top of the Rockefeller Center or the Empire State Building, both beautiful Art Deco buildings which are synonomous with the New York skyline. For a long weekend in New York, I stayed at the ACE hotel, which is right in the middle of the city on 29th Street West between Broadway and 5th Avenue. From here one can stroll along 5th Avenue to shop, or why not take in a show on Broadway. New York Ultimate passes will allow you to maximise the sights as it gives you access to a host of New York attractions from the Guggenheim to the Statue of Liberty. Use the hop on hop off bus to get around rather than using the Subway, as whilst the Subway needs to be done once, you can see so much more from the bus. For a great view of the Statue of Liberty, take the Staten Island Ferry which is free and runs every 30 minutes. It takes around 25 minutes so can be a very pleasant trip across the Hudson. The choice of hotels is vast! There are some lovely hotels in Downtown New York, which can often be less expensive than those more central, but still give a great experience of New York. To be close to the 9/11 Memorial, try the W Downtown, where you overlook the Memorial from the balcony of the bar/reception area, or the Andaz Wall Street where the access to the rest of Manhattan is easy, but you can experience the lifestyle of the City. To be right in the middle of the New York lights go for Time Square, however be warned that the lights are very bright so a heavy sleeper may be better off here! Or, go Uptown New York for a view of Central Park, staying somewhere more traditional like Essex House, or the Waldorf Astoria. A New York Breakfast is not to be missed so try The Standard Grill, which is part of the Standard Hotel based in the Meat Packing District, over the High Line. The seats outside are great and the eggs and coffee excellent. So, go and watch the world go by in this very cool spot. Afterwards turn the corner for some great shops including the UGG store and Diane Von Furstenberg.
