Grand Canyon...Walk the Skywalk...

Did you know that in 2016 the National Parks in the USA are celebrating their 100th year anniversary? With lots of activities and events in the planning it would be the perfect year to visit. One of the most iconic parks must be the Grand Canyon, five million people make the trek to explore all the Park has to offer every year and in 2016 visitor numbers are expected to increase to 7 million.  As well as the majestic scenery, there are countless opportunities to discover the hidden depths, Why not embark on one of the many hiking trails or attend a free Park Ranger session, or perhaps a spot of yoga in the majesty of the Park? Grand Canyon is located in northern Arizona. The national park spans the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam in the east to the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead in the west. The North and South Rim  are easily accessible by Highway, the South all year round and North from May to Mid September. A 'must do' is the Grand Canyon's Skywalk (glass walkway) 4000 feet above the floor of the Canyon. Follow in the footsteps of Buzz Aldrin, the first person to walk on the bridge when it opened in 2007. Today it is easily the biggest draw for tourists to the West Rim area. You may also want to visit the iconic Four Corners Monument, which marks the joining of four US states: Arizona; Colorado; New Mexico and Utah, which can be visited whilst exploring Monument Valley or as part of a Grand Circle trip including Arches; Canyonlands and Mesa Verde. If time is short then day  trips are in abundance from Las Vegas, either by road or light aircraft. What better way to see the spectacular scenery than from a birds eye view!
