Bucket List Adventures South America Part 1 | Designer Travel

South America is an incredibly diverse destination offering adventures on every level whatever you are looking for.

I was lucky enough to tick this destination of my bucket list in Spring 2019. Although I will most definitely be returning.

Taking a direct flight from London Gatwick to Buenos Aires, we soon arrived in the steak capital of the world. Of course there are many options but The Brighton Buenos Aires was a great choice after a day spent experiencing this incredible city.

Buenos Aires has so much to offer from tasty cuisine, legendary nightlife, fabulous shopping and beautiful architecture. Our visit incorporated lots of the must see’s including the national history museum, San Telmo market and its handicrafts plus the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Of course no visit to the city would be complete without singing outside of Casa Rosada (don’t cry for me Argentina) then taking in a wonderful tango show, we chose Madero Tango and it did not disappoint.

Next stop on our adventure was the Celebrity Eclipse which would enable us to unpack in our beautifully appointed stateroom. Then enjoy the upcoming ports of call Montevideo, Rio with its incredible carnival and beautiful Buzios.

Montevideo is both the capital and the largest city of Uruguay and the first thing I noticed was how immaculate it was. Our ships tour took us to a number of landmarks during our limited time ashore; including Palacio Salvo, the continents tallest building and Teatro Solis, Montivideo’s premium performance space dating back over 160 years. No trip to Montevideo is complete without a visit to the old port market building. The wrought-iron superstructure shelters the busting parillas (steak restaurants). A lively, colourful place full of the city’s artists musicians and crafts people.

This wonderful destination now holds a special place in my heart.
