I‘ve been fortunate enough to visit some truly incredible places, but now and then, a destination exceeds all expectations and leaves me glowing. That's exactly how I felt after my 3-day adult-only getaway at the stunning Asterion Suites & Spa in Crete. I’ll admit, I always feel a little anxious when I leave my boys behind, but the moment I arrived at Asterion, that familiar stress melted away. Within minutes, I was in full relaxation mode.

The Suite Life

I stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a Swim-Up Pool, and it was perfection. The suite was incredibly spacious, complete with a fully equipped kitchenette and a stylish lounge area. Sliding doors opened directly onto my private swim-up pool, framed by vibrant flowers and blue skies. My favourite moment each morning was sipping coffee on the comfy daybed, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Pure bliss.

The food at Asterion was an absolute highlight. Each day began with a plentiful breakfast buffet, offering everything from freshly cooked eggs to healthy fruits, yoghurts, and granolas—not to mention table service for coffee, tea, and fresh juices. Lunch was à la carte and packed with flavour—think Greek gyros, crisp salads, juicy burgers, and perfectly grilled fish. Dinner offered a choice between an international buffet or a refined à la carte experience, featuring standout dishes like grilled prawns, tender steaks, and the most divine melt-in-the-middle chocolate bomb.

What truly sets Asterion apart is its service, which feels more like friendship. Every staff member made me feel like a friend rather than just a guest. Poolside drinks were effortless thanks to their QR code ordering system—you don’t even need to leave your lounger! Naturally, I sampled the cocktail list (for research purposes, of course!). The hotel also has its own section of the beach, complete with plush sunbeds and that same convenient drink service. For a touch of ultimate relaxation, the spa offers everything from head to foot massages. And for those who prefer to balance indulgence with some activity, there’s even a well-equipped gym.

Peace, Privacy & Possibility

Asterion Suites is situated in a peaceful, tucked-away area, ideal for couples or solo travellers looking to unwind. There are a few local tavernas nearby if you feel like exploring, or you can hop on a local bus for just €2 to reach Platanias, which has more restaurants and bars. Chania, with its picturesque old port and bustling café culture, is just a 30-minute taxi or bus ride away and definitely worth a visit.
