Sky Princess Minicruise
Sky Princess Minicruise
Even though I only had one full day on board, it was more than enough to see just how impressive the Sky Princess really is.
My accommodation was an outside cabin with a balcony. While it wasn’t huge, it was perfectly comfortable for two people and having that private outdoor space was a real bonus. The bathroom was smaller than I expected, but well laid out and completely functional – everything you need, just cleverly designed.
Dinner on the first evening was in the main dining room, offering classic table service and a really good variety of dishes. I chose the beef Wellington for my main course, which was absolutely delicious and beautifully cooked. The dessert looked lovely, although the flavour didn’t quite live up to the presentation. After dinner, we headed to the main theatre to watch the 80s band, which was brilliant fun and had everyone singing along. The night continued in the nightclub, dancing into the late evening – a great atmosphere and the perfect way to end the day.
Breakfast the next morning was in the buffet, with plenty of choices and tasty food to set us up for the day. Lunch, however, was a real highlight. We dined at the Crown Grill Steakhouse,e and it was outstanding from start to finish. The garlic bread stuffed with mozzarella was incredible, followed by perfectly cooked prawns and a rich, flavourful lobster bisque. The main event was the steak selection – an impressive range that made choosing difficult. I went for the New York strip sirloin, medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. We shared sides including asparagus, fries, creamed spinach and garlic mushrooms, all of which were delicious. Desserts looked stunning, but I was too full from the steak to indulge.
The morning was spent training and diving into all things Princess Cruises, which was incredibly informative and gave me a much deeper understanding of the product.
For the afternoon, we were given a question sheet and had to explore the sheet and find the answers. It was a great way to get to know the layout and facilities of the ship,p and there is so much to see and do. From the casino and spa to the kids’ areas with sports courts and fun zones, as well as the many bars, restaurants, pools and jacuzzis, the facilities are excellent. We even joined in a silent disco, which was great fun. There was entertainment happening all around the ship, so whatever your taste, there’s always something going on.
In the evening, ng we returned to the main dining room as the speciality restaurants were fully booked, but Princess went above and beyond by allowing us to order a speciality dish at no extra charge. I chose the fillet mignon with lobster tail (surf and turf), and it was absolutely incredible – easily one of the best meals of the trip. The salmon fishcake with a poached egg to start was also excellent. We ended the night in the theatre watching the rock show, which was both energetic and surprisingly moving, especially during the final song performed with sign language. A last dance in the club rounded off a fantastic evening.
Disembarkation the following morning was extremely well organised, with no long queues or stress. As we weren’t in a rush, we stayed on board a little longer, enjoying a relaxed chat before saying our goodbyes.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this short but memorable trip on board. It gave me a real insight into just how high the standards are on Princess Cruises, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this ship to my clients.
One final standout feature has to be the Medallion. It truly isgame-changerger. It unlocks your cabin door as you approach, allows you to tap and go at the bar, and works seamlessly throughout the ship. The app is equally impressive, making it easy to order drinks, book restaurants and excursions, and generally manage your cruise with ease. It’s without doubt one of the most innovative pieces of technology I’ve seen at sea.
