Masseria il Papavero
Introduction
Masseria il Papavero
With contemporary décor, pale stone walls, marble floors and gloriously vaulted ceilings, this gorgeous house is quietly secluded in private rural acres, and exudes an air of cool, calm relaxation. A cloistered courtyard at the front of the villa has an almost Moorish feel, with gentle lighting for balmy evenings, highlighting the Masseria’s graceful architecture. A larger courtyard, to the rear, is home to an unusually large swimming pool, with parasol shade for a poolside seating area, and a pergola furnished for al fresco dining. French doors lead in from here to the living area, where an airy sitting room, all in creamy white, is open-plan to the dining kitchen, its sleek styling softened by country fabrics. And, in a layout which would offer extra privacy for two families, the bedrooms are accessed from the cloister, two in the central section, two in the side wing, and all air-conditioned, elegant and uncluttered.
This villa is particularly appreciated by families with a double and twin bedroom in each part of this beautiful villa accessed from the cloister. All parties appreciate the consistent standard, large pool, privacy of the villa yet within very easy access of restaurants, other amenities and sandy beaches. Shops and inexpensive family friendly restaurants can also be found in Serrano and in and around other local villages. Many local villages host atmospheric food festivals and concerts. Beautiful sandy beaches including Alimini and Torre dell'Orso with beach clubs are within easy driving distance and surfing, kite surfing, SUP, kayaking can be enjoyed. Day trips on yachts can be enjoyed from Otranto during the season. Cycling is also very popular and bicycles (with guides if required) can also be hired. Salento, this area of southern Puglia is a unspoilt pocket of southern Europe dotted with beautiful towns, villages and superb restaurants. Interesting half day trips include visiting the picturesque old town and beaches of Otranto and Gallipoli and the magnificent baroque town and upmarket shopping of Lecce
