A little off the beaten track, and cushioned from the real world by the fields, farms and forested slopes of Umbria’s northern hills, this is a wonderful place to wind-down to a gentler pace of life. The route to the house runs through the woods and emerges to a tantalising view of Trasimeno, with various water sports from the lake shores, just 20km from Le Caselle. On arrival at the villa, guests will find a light meal has been prepared to welcome them, and cook service could be added for the duration of the holiday. A former farmhouse, surrounded now by lawned gardens, the villa has been restored with comfortable simplicity, completely in harmony with its beamed ceilings and bucolic setting. But additions like WiFi and satellite TV are totally 21st century, the country style kitchen is well equipped with contemporary appliances, and a gazebo in the grounds forms an al fresco sitting room beside a generously sized heatable swimming pool. Local shops in Lisciano Niccone are 8km from the villa, and Umbertide and Cortona are within easy reach for bars and restaurants.
