More About Switzerland

Switzerland has some of the most dramatic scenery in Europe with deep gorges, beautiful lakes and spectacular mountains. It is an all-year-round destination to suit so many different travellers, offering everything from skiing in the winter to fantastic hiking in the spring and summer. The Swiss Alps provide a fantastic winter sports destination suiting all levels of skiers and snowboarders and the facilities are wonderful. This is truly such a scenic and breathtaking destination and one which you won‘t forget in a hurry! There are some very pretty cities to visit as well as this being a great destination for a lakes and mountains holiday. Relaxing on a boat whilst crossing one of the many lakes and taking in the mountain scenery is amazing. The summers here provide a lovely climate and, shielded by the mountains, it can get very warm. Zermatt is a popular resort with holidaymakers. The village has winding alleys, plenty of charming accommodations and it's car-free so you get around on foot or by electric vehicle or horse-drawn cab. You can take a short train ride from Zermatt to Sunnegga which has family-friendly slopes, play areas, eateries and wonderful views of the Matterhorn. If you fancy a lakeside setting, choose Lucerne - a fascinating and colourful city with charming streets, frescoed buildings and plenty of museums, shops, cafes and boutiques. You can take a lake steamer to one of the pretty lakeside villages such as Vitznau or Weggis or take a guided walking tour to learn more about this welcoming resort. One of the best ways to appreciate the countryside is by rail, particularly the striking Glacier Express which winds its way through the Rhine valley between Zermatt and St Moritz in the Swiss Alps. There's so much more to explore in Switzerland including the Swiss National Park, Lake Geneva and the surrounding cities, Lugano with its abundance of heritage sites and neoclassical palazzos, the medieval city of Bern, the culture-rich Zurich and the enchanting natural wonder that is The Rhine Falls.
