Just outside Hurghada are El Gouna and Soma Bay, two smaller Red Sea Resorts but equally beautiful diving destinations. If golf is more your thing, there are excellent golf courses at El Gouna, Madinat Makadi and Soma Bay so you can play a round or two in the sunshine. If you head out to Makadi Bay, you have the stunning backdrop of the Red Sea Mountains and desert. Gently sloping beaches meet the warm translucent waters of the Red Sea where you can snorkel and dive to see all manner of fish, coral and even dolphins!! Other activities include desert safaris, camel rides and Quad bike tours to name but a few. For those who like shopping this is a fun experience as Egyptians love to haggle so don't be shy! Makadi Bay itself offers a number of boutiques and bazaars, but if you want more modern shopping, there are more conventional malls offering international brands just a short taxi or coach ride away.
