Flights to New York are about to become a lot cheaper as of July 2014 as the airline company Norwegian have announced they will be operating direct flights from an amazing £149 one way.
So after you've booked your flight and accommodation to New York, you might wonder what exactly there is do amongst the sky scrapers apart from just shopping!
From experience there really isn't enough hours in the day to see what this great city really has to offer, but here are a few suggestions:
Jekyll & Hyde Club: recently relocated to Times Square is this fantastic venue for all those lovers of haunted houses. Spooky horror set in English Gothic times is the restaurant's theme and is brought to life by some really great decorations, animatronics and sound effects. Actors also portray Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to keep you entertained whilst dining. Then there's the talking werewolves and skulls and portraits with roving eyes that watch you as you walk past.
If you want to experience something a bit different then definitely give this a try, it's great entertainment for all the family.
So what else is there to do on a New York City break? Another great place to visit is the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). Located at Central Park West at 79th Street, the walk up to here through Central Park is something that should be experienced as well as there are loads of people roller skating or jogging past you (making you feel guilty for being so unfit!).
Anyway back to AMNH. This is a huge museum so it would be a good idea to download the free app so you can plan your visit to explore the exhibits. A definite recommendation would be to make sure you don't miss the Dino Tour. Here you'll get to see the jaw dropping skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex. Seriously, you won't believe how big this thing is!
Of course any New York break would not be complete without seeing the city from way, way up high and whilst the Empire State Building might be an obvious choice, you might also want to consider taking in the view from the Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center.
Soaring 70 floors up you get the most amazing 360 degree views of NYC including Central Park and the world famous skyline. Even if you're afraid of heights you really have to give this a go and get up there because you'll kick yourself if you don't. It's also been voted Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice Winner 2013 as it's that spectacular!
So with flights to New York becoming more affordable, why not book that break to NYC that you've always dreamed of, or if you've already been then perhaps another trip to see what else this great city has to offer?
