My Adventures in Morocco - An Introduction
My Adventures in Morocco - An Introduction
During March 2022 I was fortunate enough to have the chance to visit the exotic and exciting country of Morocco. I will give you a quick overview of my adventures in this introduction and I will then publish a series of blogs with more in-depth information and exciting places that you may want to consider for your next North African adventure.
Morocco is just a three and a half hour flight from London. That three and a half hours takes you to a different world. Casablanca airport is clean and extremely efficient - everything went like clockwork.
On this eight night Intrepid Premium Tour we stayed at five different accommodations - ranging from modern hotels in Casablanca & Bin el Ouidane to the Riad‘s of Meknes, Fes and Marrakech.
When I first arrived in Casablanca I was amazed at how in just over three hours I had been transported to a completely different land - the air was warmer - although I have to say the nights were rather chilly, the aromas that greeted us were intoxicating and left me keen to find out more and explore this amazing country.
We transferred to our home for the next two nights, which was a hotel in central Casablanca. The hotel was modern and clean with one of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in. As our arrival time was so late in the evening Intrepid had arranged an Urban Adventure for us thus maximising our time in Morocco‘s economic capital.
From Casablanca we visited Rabat, Meknes, Fez and Marrakesh with lots of other highlights en-route.
Most of our travel was either by coach or once we were in the cities we walked a lot and got the chance to see what life was really like locally. Some of our excursions gave an insight into the different traditional trades - weave makers, potteries, tannery‘s and we even got to experience some of our meals in the homes of local people - it was amazing!
One of my biggest reservations before the trip was the cuisine - it turned out to be another highlight. From lovely salads to hearty homecooked meals the choices were great and I can honestly say I enjoyed the variety enormously.
The highlight of my trip was the diversity of the accommodation and the locations - this trip gave me a taster for Morocco and, in subsequent blogs I will give you a lot more detail about my daily adventures.
