Corfu - Adults Only Summer Break
On the 4th of August 2024, my husband and I set off on our very rare (minus the children) adult only short break for four nights to Corfu, Greece.
We had decided that as it was the school summer holidays, we would take advantage of staying in an “adult only” hotel for our 5 days away and chose the 4* Kairaiba Mythos Palace in Boukari Corfu.
Our flight was around three and half hours from Manchester and then the transfer time to our resort of Boukari was around 45 minutes, we change vehicles en-route in Moraitika in Corfu from a larger coach to a smaller mini-bus to be able to negotiate narrow parts of the coastal path from Moraitika to Boukari.
We chose the resort of Boukari due to it’s proximity to Corfu airport for a transfer that wasn’t too long from the airport and also because we enjoy staying in quieter more none commercialised resorts on our travels.
We chose to book our hotel on a B&B basis, (although they did offer all-inclusive), as we enjoy choosing restaurants to eat out at and sampling the local food and drink too.
The resort of Boukari is very typically Greek, the largest hotel in the resort was ours, other than that there are a handful of restaurants and cafes, a stunning unspoilt shingle beach front where the water shelves in gently, some make shift wooden jetty’s and simplistic beauty all around.
We had lazy days by the beach and pool and ate out at some fabulous restaurants, our favourite was the Boukari Beach Bar restaurant, family owned and run, fresh and reasonably priced food and great friendly service too. We also very much enjoyed lunch and snacks at the Olive Tree cafe and the Golden Sunset Restaurant too.
If you are spending longer than four nights in Corfu, I would highly recommend a trip over to the island of Paxos or perhaps combine this as a twin centre holiday, a day trip to Corfu town or even a ferry over to Albania
Corfu is a beautiful Greek island and after our first short visit here, I am looking forward to being able to return to Corfu one day to spend longer exploring all that this Ionian Island has to offer.
