Katrina Scanlon

Hello and welcome - My name is Katrina Scanlon and I originally started out in the travel industry back in 1988 when I studied Travel and Tourism at New College Durham.

During my time at college I worked as a Saturday girl for Sheilagh Walker Travel, an independent travel agent in Bishop Auckland, and when I qualified I worked there full-time.

After 3 years I was keen to progress in my career, and an opportunity came about to work for Co-op Travelwise/Travelcare in Barnard Castle, I was there for a fantastic 13 years, where I worked my way up from Travel Consultant to Branch Manager.

In 2005 I left travel to start my family and the following year I started working in the office at my local primary school, which fit around my young family. I never lost my passion for travel and would always help friends and family to find the right holiday for them.

After 20 years, I was made redundant and the draw of the travel industry was just too strong to ignore and I have now found myself rejoining travel.

I just love to travel! Travelling has always been a huge part of my life and I have been fortunate to travel all over the world to many incredible places including, but not limited to, Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Florida, and many parts of Europe.

Cruising is another favourite of mine. One of my most recent memorable experiences was a luxury Celebrity cruise in the Med, which allowed me to explore a variety of beautiful destinations while enjoying the elegance and comfort of life at sea. I love the opportunity to wake up in a new destination each day while enjoying exceptional dining, entertainment and service on board. Having experienced a variety of cruise lines and itineraries over the years, I can truly appreciate why cruising continues to grow in popularity.
