Hi, I’m Carsten and I’m based in South Yorkshire on the edge of the beautiful Peak District. I started in the travel industry over 25 years ago and travelling has been a big part of my life since.

I’ve experienced 85 countries so far and have lived and worked in Japan, South Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand; exploring their cultures and wilder areas whist seeking authentic experiences. Some of my favourites include:

*Night diving with leopard sharks on the Great Barrier Reef

*Hiking the 9-day Dusky Track deep in the New Zealand Fiordland

*Fishing for piranhas in the Amazon and keeping my fingertips

*Snowboarding on Japanese slopes followed by warm sake

*Waking up in a traditional beach Fale in Samoa

*Having tea with Mongolian nomadic herders

*Sighting polar bears in Norwegian Svalbard
