Twin Centre Holiday to Kuala Lumpur and Penang

Abi's Testimonial

Twin Centre Holiday to Kuala Lumpur and Penang Just a quick note to thank you for all your efforts in organising our trip.  We had a great holiday and everything worked like clockwork. Well done - I'm sure we'll be working with you again. We thought you would find some feedback useful: Royal Park Hotel - Kuala Lumpur Royal Park Kuala Lumpur - excellent, central location. Hotel clean and modern. Wi-fi fine. Staff efficient, excellent breakfast though sometimes quite busy, well-appointed room, good hotel bar with resident band (have heard worse!), friendly staff and serving good "bar" food - all in all, couldn't fault it. KL itself - good, not madly exciting - another big city. City bus tour quite good, markets good, caves at Gombak quite interesting. Royal Park Hotel - Penang Royal Park Penang (Batu Feringgi) - great location on the beach. Night market immediately outside the hotel and a "strip" of restaurants, bars, etc to stroll to with a good choice of places to eat on varied budgets (very cheap street food to good restaurants, including a Hard Rock Cafe, though still reasonably priced). Beach very underused (don't know why other than rumours of jellyfish!) but nice to stroll along with cheap and cheerful bars to stop at and have a leisurely drink. Various watersports available - banana ride, paragliding (?), etc. Hotel gardens and pool area lovely, beautifully kept, nice bar (service slow but friendly!), nice pool, table tennis tables, variety of sunbeds/chairs/huge wicker basket seats with shade, parasols, etc. Food and drinks available all day at the pool area. "Uncle Zak's" restaurant at the periphery of the hotel pool/garden area leading onto the beach - very nice, fine dining in a beautiful setting, quite special. Hotel rooms; clean, good size and well-appointed - ours had a generous balcony with table and chairs and pool view, though other people we spoke to just had a juliet balcony. Rooms well-maintained. Breakfast; very good. Lobby area; large and airy - open onto pool area, staff very good, helpful, etc. Gave us a late check-out without any fuss. Tried to help with questions re restaurants in Georgetown, making reservations, etc, but not always very knowledgable. Bar area very nice, relaxed atmosphere with resident band (as above - is there ever a good one?!), and friendly, efficient staff. Wifi better in the bar area than in rooms but good enough everywhere. Georgetown Georgetown fantastic with masses to see and do - particularly recommend Chinatown, Clan Jetties, the street art, Little India (more Indian than our recent trip to Delhi!),  Blue Mansion for dinner (stunning interior and fine dining - a World Heritage site). The bus tour is dull and not worth the bother - we spent longer stationary in traffic than moving. Penang Hill was closed for annual maintenance which was a shame - it looked dramatic. Lots of dramatic, high-rise, ultra-modern architecture alongside traditional old-style British colonial buildings - very interesting. Shopping malls best avoided - weirdly empty and soul-less. We used Uber to get back from Georgetown to the hotel - it was generally efficient and one third of the price. Otherwise we used hotel taxis into Georgetown (about a 30 minute drive) - drivers all very nice and keen to talk - proud of Malaysia. Not bothered by mozzies in Kl - loads of bites in Penang.  Hope this is helpful. Thanks again - it all went very smoothly and we had a great time! Will be in touch for next trip, wherever that may be (thinking Vietnam).
