Multi Centre Holiday to India

Good afternoon Simon, Sorry this has been slow in arriving, but a few things seem to have intervened! I hope you had a good Christmas, as we did; and this comes with our very best wishes for a happy New Year and all the best throughout 2020. Our trip to India was excellent throughout. The cruise and tour was excellent made very special by an excellent guide who was very knowledgeable, very articulate and a very good communicator. The last part of the trip was very special to Susan as we managed to follow both in her father’s footsteps and her grandmother’s and the local tour operators were excellent in both suggesting places to visit and organising the visits. The local vicars were astonished when we produced an 1893 baptism certificate for Susan’s grandmother and could identify both the church and the font. The hotels were very good apart from the Novotel which was really designed for single businessmen, not for the likes of us. We had to ask for additional towels , additional soap , additional coat hangers ( which never came ! ) and which in any event was very uninteresting. The local guides and transfers all worked very well and I have to say that Ms Deepti Anand went out of her way to take care of us . When our flight from Lucknow to Delhi was delayed she contacted us to say we wouldn’t make the connection to Nainital, so she had laid on a car for us - we retrieved our luggage and embarked on an 11 hour car journey which I wouldn’t want to repeat again , but which was fascinating and an eye opener on India and the driver was unbelievable in his ability to manoeuvre the car both into and out of tight spaces!  Incidentally we were given a form to say there was a full refund on the flights, but no one was interested in taking the form, even though the car must have cost quite a lot. Ms Anand kept in touch the whole time and made sure that food was available when we arrived - a lovely lady. Altogether a super tour of India, and thank you for all the arrangements which made our trip “up country “so memorable. We are now taking things easy and are slowly digesting all the sights, sounds, smells and noise of India! With best wishes, Tom & Susan 85
