Centara Grand Beach Resort

Hi Angela Thank you! I’m waiting for the jet lag to kick in soon! As for feedback, please see below:- · Transport from and to airport was excellent, they had a mini-van, which fitted us all comfortably and all the luggage. · The resort was fantastic, we would definitely try there again. · Our villa was lovely. The only issue we had was that the girls bedroom is kind of an outside corridor away and there was no gate to the access of the swimming pool. If they turned out of their door the wrong way, they could have walked down to the pool. It wasn’t a big issue though, we used one of their garden chairs across the steps every night, but it was a little worry on the first night. · We had a pool at the villa, but the hotel swimming pool near the villas was also pretty much empty, so we had it to ourselves for the first week. It got a bit busier last week, but nothing we would worry about. · The drinks can be rather pricey, so it’s good to make the most of the cocktail hour? · The girls liked the kids club, even though it was really small, there was fortunately, not too many children and as they’re girls, they really liked the crafty activities that they did. You have to pay for some of it – e.g. painting bags etc. But we didn’t mind, they loved it. · It was definitely doing the “club” was that an upgrade? There was so many times we could get free snacks and drinks. The afternoon tea was especially brilliant for the girls. · We also did the “bhat bonanza” where if you pre-pay X amount, they give you more money to spend. Obviously it has to be only hotel chargeable items, but we certainly didn’t have problems spending all our allowance and some!! · The spa is superb!! I had a few treatments and the massage was particularly divine. · We had a bit of an issue with our air conditioning, where it had started to leak and some of our luggage and clothes got rather wet/damp. They fixed the issue, took our luggage away to get them dried. The duty manager rang us apologise and to say that they would sort our clothes out if they need it (which they didn’t in the end). Then when we got back to our room later, they had put a lovely tiered plate of cakes to apologise – which I thought was an excellent touch of customer service. · The only issues we had was there was hardly any wind ? - poor Travers only got 1 day of kite surfing in. I don’t know if it was a freak of weather or not. It was also cloudy and rainy for a few days, I was getting rather unhappy about that, but it heated up the last few days. · The food is amazing and they had a night where they put on Thai dancing and music, whilst we had dinner, which was brilliant. So, all in all, a very successful holiday. A bit more sunshine and wind would have made it perfect, but I don’t think you can guarantee that anywhere really. I like the Centara as a resort, so I don’t know where their other resorts are or whether they’re as good as this. Thanks for all your help in organising it.
