Jumeirah Zabeel Saray The Palm Dubai
Built in the style of a grand Arabian Palace, the Zabeel Saray sits majestically on the Western frong of The Palm. The entrance is very modest, but the welcome extremely warm. Once inside, you soon begin to realise just how luxurious the hotel is. The lobby is breathtakingly luxurious with ornate lighting, sculptures, art and warm colours reflecting the middle eastern culture. Rooms are large and spacious, again adorned in the same style. The Deluxe family rooms particularly so and plenty big enough for four. I like the fact that in Dubai, where land is precious and most hotels build upwards instead of outwards, the Zabeel Saray is low rise and indeed bucks this trend completely. The pool and beach front look in to the Palm, so the sea is very calm and safe for swimming and lifeguards continually monitor the pool and beach throughout the day. You really do slip in to lazy mode as soon as you arrive here, the pool attendants ask you where you would like to get set up and then they literally do just that - arranging sunbeds and towels for you and bringing bottles of water in an ice bag! Later in the day, complimentary ice lollies and fresh fruit are given out to cool you down to the delight of everyone.
For those with little ones, there is a separate children's area with pool which is shaded by a large brightly coloured canopy and play area and situated right by the indoor kids centre. By all accounts, very well organised and managed, it seemed to be enjoyed by plenty.
During the summer months, there are various deals offered by the Jumeirah Hotels such as complimentary entrance to the Wild Wadi Waterpark and also complimentary half board, which is fantastic value. Vouchers are issued when you check in which can be used in a variety of restaurants within the Jumeirah Group, this includes restaurants at some of the other Jumeirah Hotels and even some in the Dubai Mall. Food at every meal was exceptional, the buffet at Imperium was fabulous for breakfast; the Indian restaurant Amala and Lebanese, Al Nafoofrah were also wonderful. Drinks can be expensive, so the Happy Hour at the beachfront Plaj was popular every day!
The only slight niggle we found was the location, there is only one way on and off The Palm which can take 20 to 30 minutes during busy times. However, taxis are cheap and plentiful and you quickly get used to the speed bumps.
For those seeking a beautiful luxurious hotel with the glitz and glam of the city in the near distance, then the Zabeel Saray will tick all the boxes. Prices start from an unbelievable £639 per person for 3 nights based on a Deluxe room with complimentary Half Board departing from London, other regional flights available.
