Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru

This has to be my favourite hotel in the world so far and I have been to lots! Our journey started with a short seaplane from the sister property the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa. Within 30 minutes we had landed and been welcomed by the management and staff of the Four Seasons Landaa Giravaru. After passing through the beautiful reception area we were whisked to our beach villa by golf cart. On arrival at our beach villa, there were four bikes waiting for us with our initials on and each bike the right size to our ages. The bikes were a fantastic way of getting around the island. The kids loved them, especially as they had baskets on the front to carry those important snorkels. I personally had flash backs of ET and really thought I could be on the movie set! The bikes are your to use for the full duration and all of the pathways are sand and the only form of transport is the odd golf cart, so it is very safe for the kids The beach villas have their own large private pool, an outdoor living room with a sand floor and access to the beach. The Four Seasons touch on arrival was to give the kids the most amazing kids bag and a welcome plate of goodies with their names on. We were impressed but the kids were speechless! We began to explore the island and WOW the Four Season Landaa Giraavaru is special. White beaches, clear seas and the most spectacular house reef just a few steps away from the shore. My tip is to go first thing in the morning as you will be blown away by what you see and how up close and personal you will get. The restaurants were relaxed and the food was as you would expect in a Four Seasons hotel, amazing! The Moroccan restaurant was extra special and on a lovely evening take a drink downstairs looking over the water, it really is hard to explain the amazing setting of this restaurant. The sky bar was a funky bar set out into the water, perfect for watching the world famous sunsets in the Maldives. Enjoy a cocktail whilst looking for the lemon sharks! Breakfast at Blu is another must, the most perfect beach you will ever set your eyes on! and in the evening they will set up dining on the beach for a truly unique experience. The water sports here were excellent too and they also offer a Manta Watch programme, you carry a mobile phone with you and then when the team spot Manta Rays they buzz you, get to the jetty within 20 minutes and head out to sea in search of the Manta Rays. My husband and 11 year old son did just that and ended up snorkelling with 4 meters manta's, an experience he relives most days! The sunset fishing cruise was also worth doing, the kids loved it but we also got very competitive. Anything you caught that was edible you could have cooked by the chef and delivered to your villa the following lunchtime. The worst part about this hotel is leaving, it almost brings you to tears as it feels like home, you will have made special friends with the staff and you just hope like we do that one day soon we can go back.
