Nepal Experiences

Experience 1: Dwarikas Hotel, Dhulikel - Beautiful Retreat This blissful, holistic retreat just outside the bustle of Katmandu. It’s ideally positioned for day trips into the city and yet there is so much to discover on site. It has a peaceful ethos, which fundamentally ensures a balance between looking after yourself, and in turn, nature. Try the Himalayan Salt Room; proven to be beneficial for respiratory conditions and wall to wall of the purest form of mineral-containing salt. I woke for sunrise to experience the Meditation Maze; it is deemed to create inner balance and powers of concentration - both of which would be very useful back home with the family! Experience 2: Tiger Mountain Pokara Lodge - Sunrise Village Walk As the sunrise lightens the Himalaya you will receive a gentle knock at your bedroom door and an aromatic local organic coffee.  Then head out for a pre-breakfast walk through the local villages, forest and farmland, to see the spectacular bird life and meet the locals going about their daily routines.  Everyone we came across was so welcoming and friendly and the gleaming smiles from the children is enough to make anyones day. Arriving back at the lodge, you can enjoy breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the mountains, with the traditional Masala Rumble Tumble – a local variation on scrambled eggs, and soaked up the breathtaking scenery. Experience 3: Chitwan National Park – Bahari Jungle Lodge and Taj Safaris.

The most incredible and positive thing about this National Park is that there is Zero Tiger and Rhino poaching, the first park in the world to achieve this. It is known as the ‘Heart of the Jungle’ and was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Bahari Jungle Lodge is an 18 room eco-friendly hotel which nestles alongside the park giving you access to a the most wonderful game. Bathe and ride the elephants, see the magnificent Bengal tiger and endangered one-horned rhinos. Take a walking safari or keep it luxury with a jeep.

Experience 4: Pashupatinath Temple - Hindu Cremation Although this may seem a little morbid,  it is a very serene and astonishing act to observe. The stunning Pashupatinath Temple is a dedicated to the Hindu God of Destruction, Lord Shiva, and many thousands make a pilgrimage yearly to pay homage. Next to this great monument, by the banks of the sacred Basmati river, there is an on-going procession of mourning families bathing their departed loved ones before they finally return them to the earth with a cremation ritual.
