Borgo San Biagio
Introduction
Borgo San Biagio
A unique and intriguing holiday venue, this is a rare opportunity to enjoy the exclusive use of an entire historic hamlet. The remarkable ‘borgo’ (or little village), considered one of the most beautiful in Italy, basks amid verdant hills, within easy reach of medieval towns in both Umbria and Tuscany. Sympathetically restored by its owner Renato, it comprises six separate buildings, clustered in tree-shaded grounds with many different spots with ample outdoor furniture in sun and shade for reading or play. In various sizes for two to five guests, each is individually styled to retain its character while adding modern comforts, and all have a private furnished garden terrace. The accommodation layout is straightforward. The 'hamlet houses' of Casa del Contadino, Il Forno, Casa del Prete are all set in a horseshoe shape. Casa del Castagno with panoramic furnished terrace is set slightly apart. Casa di Venere and The Tower are at the other end of the hamlet. The thousand year old Tower villa boasts a rooftop terrace, with spectacular views unchanged by the centuries, and a rather contemporary hot tub from which to enjoy them.
Cook service can be pre-booked, barbecue and delightful informal pizza evenings can be arranged, and the borgo’s Club is a rustic, informal but elegant dining room with fully equipped kitchen and bar area with an al fresco table on the terrace big enough for everyone. The old chapel, now a convivial sitting room, is also used for wedding blessings. And the focal point of the country gardens is an eighteen metre heated swimming pool.
Renato, the owner who lives a few kilometres away, remains unobtrusive, but is always on hand to ensure his guests are happy and contented. Nothing is too much for him. He will arrange a wedding breakfast for honeymooners, a barbecue and pizza evenings for a private group, horse riding in the surrounding hills, a trip to the local spa, or even a truffle hunting expedition in the surrounding area in Autumn! His pride in the hamlet, local knowledge, and enthusiasm is reflected in the complimentary comments in the Visitors Book. "A most serene place to stay: wonderfully traditional and homely". Visitors have shown nothing but enthusiasm for this very special place.
Borgo San Biagio is a favourite venue for a special celebration or informal wedding reception. Please enquire for details of a wedding planner.
Review
"Wonderful location. Renato and team could not have been more helpful. Glorious food and pizza evening a great success."
