Paris Winter City Break - Christmas Markets

Paris Winter City Break - Christmas Markets

We travelled as a family for a winter weekend break to Paris.

After a short flight from Manchester to Paris Charles De Gaulle, we made our way by private transfer to our apartments

For the next three nights we were staying at the Apartments Du Louvre, St-Honore, located in a fabulous location, located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris and just a 5-minute walk to the Louvre main entrance.

These are 4* fully serviced self-catering apartments of varying sizes of studio, one-bedroom apartments, suites, duplex and two-bedroom apartments.

The key thing to bear in mind for Paris is to try and pre-book any activities or events for things that you wish to do, we pre-booked our entrance to the Louvre with a timed entrance at 10am, which saved queuing at the ticket desk, as even in this winter month, the queues were busy.

The tickets for the Eiffel Tower get super busy and are only launched a few months in advance, so its always best to book in advance if you wish to ascend the Eiffel Tower, particularly if you wish to go to the summit, despite it being a very cold November day, we were able to enjoy a fabulous visit to this Iconic landmark.

On the Sunday we took a Bateaux Mouches River Cruise down the Seine which lasted for around 1.5hrs, this was a wonderful way to learn about the fabulous Parisian sights, architecture, and history of such an amazing city.

In the afternoon we made our way to Montmartre and Scare Coeur via the Paris Metro and took the Funicular up to Scare Coeur, we had a wonderful lunch in Montmartre and then made our way again back down via the Moulin Rouge, and then via Metro to the Arc De Triomphe, Champs Elysees and Place de La Concorde By coincidence there was a fabulous Christmas market housed in the Les Tuileries Garden, near the Louvre, so this was remarkably close to our apartments and was a wonderful bonus during our stay, we were able to take a ride on the big wheel and see over the amazing Paris rooftops and sample some lovely food and drink too.

Please remember that Paris involves lots of walking with plenty of public transport also available, so good comfortable walking shoes are essential to see Paris at its best, along with relevant clothing attire for whatever the season/weather when you are visiting.

This was the first time we had travelled to Paris as a family and Paris was the destination our 11- and 15-year-old daughters and we had the most fabulous time.

I am sure we will return one day
