Ozen Life Madhoo Maldives

An unforgettable experience! We were extremely fortunate to be able to spend 2 nights of our honeymoon at Ozen Life Maadhoo, this secluded Maldives island sanctuary. From the moment you arrive, it smacks you in the face that you have officially arrived in paradise, you are greeted with a foot massage, champagne & views of the ocean! What more could you possibly want?!

Ozen Life Maadhoo is located in the South Male Atoll. This island is just a short scenic transfer from Male International Airport, approximately 45 minutes via Luxury speedboat. While we waited for our transfer we were able to indulge with complimentary Ozen lounge access.

Ozen Life Maadhoo was the first Ozen resort in the Maldives and it continues to be a firm favourite for 5* Maldives resorts I can see why; this island is only 900m long by 80m wide so it’s fairly easy to get your bearings quite quickly here. For such a small island there are still lots of activities here to keep you busy if that’s your thing, each villa is provided with bikes for use around the island if you wish and water sports and non-motorised are included within your all-inclusive package but motorised, like most resorts come at a small charge. Snorkel just steps from your villa or take advantage of the twice-daily complimentary snorkel trips and immerse yourself in the vibrant marine life surrounding Maadhoo Island. Until this trip I never realised how calming it is, you could spend hours discovering the surreal Maldivian underwater world where there’s every possibility you will encounter, sea turtles, nurse sharks, stingrays & so much more.

At Ozen Life Maadhoo the indulgence all-inclusive plan is such an amazing package. It is a unique, exclusive dining plan with just about everything included. Enjoy all-inclusive dine-around experiences, premium spirits, excursions and luxury spa treatments. Your in-room minibar is replenished daily with snacks, soft drinks, beers, water and there’s even a separate wine fridge which is also included - Bonus! There are 2 bars, including a gin bar with lots of homemade gins to sample and 5 restaurants here, the main buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner, then a Maldivian restaurant, Indian and Chinese and not forgetting the underwater restaurant! Plus snacks are available from the beach club and pool bar, you will never go hungry here!

At Maadhoo we stayed in one of the intimate Earth beach villas, infused with warm earthy tones giving a real island vibe. These villas are available with and without a private pool, we didn’t have a pool at this resort, as we were only there for 2 nights so it didn’t matter to us but for anyone looking to stay here for any longer, I would recommend paying to upgrade to have a private pool, because the island is so small the main pool area can get quite busy.

Upon our arrival at the resort, they had very kindly booked our dinner reservations and a lunchtime experience at Lonu, the Maldivian speciality restaurant. When in the Maldives, dine like the Maldivians! Lonu is quite literally where a gastronomical adventure awaits. You can indulge in age-old traditional recipes reimagined as sophisticated dishes. Savour the taste of tradition, blended with modern flavours and complemented by inspired beverages for an elevated dining experience. To be completely honest when reading the menu I was a little apprehensive as really I didn’t have a clue what a lot of the dishes were and because of this I probably wouldn’t have ever chosen any of those things of a menu, but this is the beauty of Lonu! It’s a taster menu, so you get to try a little bit of everything and it was incredible! You can immerse yourself in a vibrant, multi-sensory cultural experience with live cooking stations and interactions with the local chef. It was delicious and made even better by the stunning location with views out over the sea!

M6M the underwater restaurant, is hands down one of the key selling points of this island! It certainly does not disappoint. We paid for this experience as we were only there for 2 nights, however, it is included as one of your speciality dining options when staying 4 nights or more. It was worth every single penny, it was a true once-in-a-lifetime experience and certainly one that we will never forget, it was for sure one of the highlights of our whole honeymoon! You get the most spectacular underwater sea views at Minus 6 Meters whilst experiencing fine dining at one of the most sought-after dining destinations in the Maldives! What’s not to love? From underwater restaurants to an elegant overwater spa this little island has so much to offer!
