Introduction

Originally opened in 1890 the Gran Taoro Hotel was Spain‘s first ever luxury hotel set at the top of a lush hillside in the north of Tenerife.

It was a lavish affair -and played host to the King of Spain (Alfonso XIII) as well as the famous author Agatha Christie.

After remaining closed for the last 50 years, it has now gloriously reopened after a stunning refurbishment throughout -to the cost of £44 million! There is not 1 inch of this hotel that does not feel brand-new whilst cleverly retaining its palatial and historical aura.

The stunning hotel has a backdrop of the Taoro mountain and proudly overlooks the town of Puerto de la Cruz.

Set amongst lush Gardens and fountains this neoclassical building with white walls and dark wooden balconies feels incredibly luxurious.

This hotel is big with 199 bedrooms mostly doubles and all the same size (30 square metres) with differing views depending on which side of the building they are located. Overlooking gardens or the sea or the pools all of youse are stunning. There are three swimming pools.

Throughout the hotel, there is a feeling of spaciousness and grandeur.

It is bright and modern, clean lines and sparkling white walls.

This hotel is ideal for couples. It is calm and chic set in a quiet Hillside location. The walk down into town is approximately 15 minutes and it is very easy to get a taxi back up the steep hill.
