Looking for the perfect family destination? Port de Pollensa, Majorca is one of the best.
Especially ideal for families with young children, the beach is the perfect sandcastle soft sand, all very level. There is a very gentle slope to the crystal clear water and the sea have is virtually still, staying shallow for further than your little ones would want to venture. It's a huge bay with views right across towards Alcudia, so while the kids are safely playing you can daydream towards the horizon or watch the boats make there way into the marina.
Puerto Pollensa is a small resort all very accessible on foot. The famous Pine Walk runs the length of the bay, dotted with bars and restaurants, all family friendly and offering a mix of more relaxed places to fine dining. Ice cream parlours are plenty and shops range from the classic postcard bucket and spade store to bijoux boutiques.
Enjoy the centre of town in the old square where you'll find the locals gathering to chat, children playing and you can enjoy some Spanish Churros as you wander through.
There is lots to see close by too with Alcudia just around the bay, Cap de Formentor in the opposite direction and Palma is great for a day of city life, it's just under an hour's drive. Old Pollensa is a short drive away where you'll be enchanted by the beautiful old squares and cobbled narrow alleyways. The market in the main square is mouthwatering and there are some exceptional restaurants, all alfresco dining dotted around this square too.
It really is a lovely, relaxed and easy destination for families or couples looking for a relaxed break with a short flight.
