Mamma Mia!

Having travelled to many of the Greek islands Skiathos has to be one of my favourites. Famous for its superb beaches and of course one of the stunning locations as seen in the movie Mamma Mia. Myself and and my friend travelled for a week in August. The weather was in the forties offering around 12 long hours of sunshine each day. We stayed in a four star hotel called The Esperides, located in the picturesque resort of Achlaides. The hotel itself offered bed, breakfast and evening meal. We chose to eat out at one of the three traditional Greek tavernas on the beach, which offered really reasonably priced food and entertainment. On a few of the nights nights we also ventured out into Skiathos Town to sample the lovely fish restaurants. Skiathos is one of the smaller Greek islands and it is so easy to get around. From Achlaides beach and many of the other resorts and coves you could board the water taxi which runs on the hour and takes you straight into Skiathos town. There was a real buzz to Skiathos during the day and come the evening visitors had the chance to experience the chic and sophisticated nightlife. There were outdoor bars and clubs which were located on the harbour front. There are many places to visit whilst on holiday in Skiathos. We visited the famous Fish Market at the Old Port in Skiathos Town, Monastery of Evangelistra, we also took the hydrofoil across to Skopelos and Alonissos where Mamma Mia was filmed. (highly recommended) I'd say that Skiathos is an ideal holiday destination_blogs for a romantic getaway, a honeymoon or couples. I cant wait to go back............
