Madeira..the floating garden of the Atlantic

It is easy to see why Madeira has been a favourite with British holidaymakers for many years. Situated in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Morocco, the island enjoys a temperate climate, rarely dropping below 15 degrees centigrade in the winter and rising above 28 degrees centigrade in Summer. The capital Funchal draws the most visitors, with a plethrora of good 4 and 5* hotels to choose from. Located on the South East Coast, it combines a selection of renaissance architecture; historical monuments including the 15th-century Sé Cathedral; quaint cobbled street and traditional squares with modern shopping plazas and casinos. Something to keep everyone happy. The mountainous back drop is home to the Jardim Botanico, which houses all the native flora and fauna and should be on everyone's list to see.  Ascending the mountain (Monte) by cable car is not for the faint hearted, neither is the popular excursion of descending by wicker sleighs...but jolly good fun! There is so much to see on the island that car hire is a good idea, roads are well kept, the drive along the coastal road is spectacular, rivalled only by the Italian Amalfi coast in Europe. Boat trips are also popular as the island is on the migratory route for dolphins, monk seals; turtles and whales. Although popular with older holidaymakers, Madeira is a great alternative choice for families during school holidays, whether it is Christmas and New Year for the famous Funchal fireworks or Easter and Summer when the climate is ideal, there is a vast choice of family friendly hotels, offering larger rooms and a whole host of activities to keep the children entertained. There has never been a better time to visit! For personal recommendation and advice on the very  best hotel deals, please feel free to call.
