Dubai to Singapore Cruise - Ports of Call

Dubai to Singapore Cruise - Ports of Call

After spending an amazing 17 nights cruising from Dubai to Singapore, I thought I would share my opinions of the ports of call I visited along the way... First Stop Dubai - one word AMAZING. I spent almost 3 days in Dubai and can't wait to return. The hotels are out of this world, fantastic beaches, great shopping opportunities and unlimited amounts of things to do. A must visit is the Dubai Mall which is home to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, The Dubai Fountain ( which is magical), The Dubai Dino and the Emirates A380 experience - not to mention over 1200 shops and over 200 food and beverage outlets. Our next stop was Muscat in Oman where we visited the local Souks, soaring temperatures on our visit (53c) meant we were restricted as to how much we could do as long walks were out of the question. Diving is great in Muscat and again lovely beaches , Mosques, Museums and in general plenty of sightseeing opportunities. 3rd stop Cochin,Kerala is a traditional Indian City with lots of culture, big smiles and very welcoming local people waiting to show you their wonderful country. Fishing is a big thing here where the locals use Chinese fishing nets which date back to the 13th century. We visited an elephant sanctuary where you can wash the elephants in the river and get very close to these enormous mammals. Although we didn't visit any there is 48 kilometres of coastline so plenty of beach resorts to choose from. After a few days at sea we arrived at Penang in Malaysia, again not disappointed. Soak in the sun at one of the many beaches, explore the quaint nooks and crannies of George Town, feast on delicacies from the street stalls, shop at the many quaint night markets and much more.Be it lush tropical gardens or ornately designed temples and unique heritage buildings, Penang will give you a glimpse into a world where nature, tradition and history blend into a rich cultural tapestry. Last stop Singapore -WOW, what a city. Superb architecture, rich in history and diversity. We spent an evening down at clarke quay which was great - a massive choice of restaurants and bars looking onto the river, there was a great atmosphere. Must not miss your Singapore Sling at the world famous Raffles Hotel - can't wait to return !! Look out for my blog on the ship we sailed on Quantum of the Seas - coming soon
