This part of the world is a picture postcard paradise. You are spoilt for choice with desert island luxury in the Maldives and Seychelles, beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka coupled with temples and giant Buddhas, and Mauritius with a great selection of world class hotels
The Maldives have long been a dream destination choice for many travellers and it’s easy to see why – near perfect weather, immaculate beaches and fantastic service are just three of the reasons to visit this spectacular area. The Maldives consists of 26 atolls and more than a thousand coral islands each surrounded by a stunning aqua blue sea teaming with exotic tropical sea life.
Being at an Indian Ocean resort means you’ll be treated to fresh seafood, the likes of which will leave you coming back for more. Dine indoors or in the open air, or treat yourself to a private candlelit dinner on the beach or in the privacy of your own luxury accommodation – the choice is yours. Many hotels have fine dining restaurants and we particularly recommend the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant set 5 metres below the surface at the outstanding Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.
Situated 2000 km off the southeast coast of Africa, Mauritius offers spectacular scenery, fantastic weather and stunning beaches. For sports lovers there’s even a horse racing track in the island’s capital of Port Louis and golfing is hugely popular with a choice of a dozen courses available.
The Seychelles is made up of over 100 islands scattered throughout the Indian Ocean, with many being uninhabited. The towering granite rocks and world famous beaches make this a place of extraordinary natural beauty. See the rare coco de mer tree, hike through the nature reserves, escape to a deserted island or take to the waters to see the coral reefs, exotic fish, turtles and whale sharks.
For ancient cities, verdant jungles and miles of white sand beaches, visit Sri Lanka – one of the world’s most exotic and beautiful islands. Sri Lanka has a wealth of wildlife including monkeys, elephants, dear and buffalo and one of the best ways to explore is with a guide. It’s also an ideal destination to twin with a visit to the Maldives, India or Dubai.
Of course, pampering yourself is all part of the dream holiday experience and the hotels often have a top-quality spa where you can choose from a range of indulgent treatments that will leave you feeling like a new person. Some resorts have treatment areas on the beach so you can listen to the waves gently lapping at the shore – absolute bliss!
