Avalon River Cruise Danube Dream Eastbound
We sailed onboard the Avalon Impression.
Avalon Impression has 83 cabins -- 65 Panorama Suites, 16 Deluxe Staterooms and 2 Royal Suites -- across six categories. The majority of cabins measure 200 square feet and have queen-sized beds that can be configured as twins. Minibar and safe in each cabin also dressing gown and slippers. TV, USB great Hairdryer also lovely L‘Occitane hand wash, shampoo, conditioner shower gel and body lotion. Also, headphones for your excursion use over the week.
The itinerary sails from Vilshofen to Budapest over 8 days visiting Passau, Linz, Ybbs, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest. We only stay on to Vienna. Optional included Excursions can be booked with the Cruise Director. Also, extra Excursions are available for an extra charge a cruise Overview sheet can be collected from the Cruise Director‘s desk. The option for excursion comes under Classic, Discovery or Active so something for everyone.
During our sail along the Danube from Passau to Linz a few of us decided to use the the hot tub before drinks in the Panorama Lounge (happy hour drinks included in your fare 18.00 - 19.00 and also during Lunch and Dinner). Food is gorgeous onboard and a good choice if you have any allergies or special dietary requirements, the chef has a meeting before we set sail.
Overnight stop in Linz Austria and on Day 3 you are free to do your own thing or book on one of many excursions available. Some included or you can pay extra for some of the others. We chose to walk around by ourselves in the morning then after lunch we joined the escorted bike ride along the river I had an Ebike we cycled 13 miles then back onboard for a rest and ready for dinner before we set sail on to YBBS
The next morning up early and a 17-mile bike ride from Ybbs to Emmersdorf along the river, through local villages, and pumpkin patches. Avalon Impression set sail and we caught up at the lock 15 miles in and witnessed it sailing through and arrived at Emmersdorf ready to watch the boat dock. We then had a well-deserved lunch before sailing on to Durnstien and what a beautiful village. Lots of excursion choices but we walked in had a beer and bought some local chocolate.
The Avalon Go app is great and gives loads of information including excursions , Menus for lunch and Dinners, Cruise Map and Bar Menus Some Drinks are included at Happy Hour each evening and wine, beer or soft drinks at lunch and Dinner. Onboard you can hire E e-bikes and normal bikes, binoculars, and fit-bit water bottles can be provided if you forget yours. There are water refill stations. In the club Lounge aft after the boat you can help yourself to tea, coffee biscuits and danishes, also rice crackers and trail mix.
