Fraser island - Paradise found!

Fraser island - Paradise found!

Fraser island off the east coast of Australia just above Brisbane ,  the largest sand island in the world. Easily reached by Ferry from Hervey Bay. I did the 4wd self drive trip and we camped which was an amazing experience but for people who would like to be looked after and let someone else take the strain, there are escorted 2-3day  which pick up from local hotels . Once there its 4wd all the way, there a no "proper roads" its sand and  more sand ! Seventy five mile beach which runs along the surf is the "highway" which also doubles as the run way for small planes ! There are many sand tracks all over the island , enabling to visit all the amazing sights on this wonderful Island. Fraser Island is a wildlife haven, Hump back whales migrate past the island around August to October, whilst there I saw large sand lizards , met dingos on a walk, they kept their distance! There are more than 79 reptiles including snakes , 354 types of birds, dolphins so much more it all co-existing on this island haven. I swam in Lake McKenzie which is one of the  100 plus lakes on the island, it is called a window lake , which means when looking at it it looks like glass, words just don't do it justice as to how beautiful it is ! You really do have to visit to experience the amazing never ending skyline, the wonderful sunsets and just enjoy the natural peace and tranquilly of this most interesting island. kingfisher resort 2
