This sustainability policy outlines our guiding principles and commitments to achieving a more sustainable travel industry. Environmental Responsibility 1.1. Conservation: We are dedicated to conserving natural resources, biodiversity, and ecosystems. We promote responsible tourism activities that minimize pollution, habitat destruction, and wildlife disturbance. 1.2. Carbon Footprint: We aim to reduce our carbon emissions and promote energy efficiency throughout our operations. We will regularly assess and monitor our carbon footprint, implement measures to reduce it, and invest in carbon offset projects to neutralize any unavoidable emissions. 1.3. Waste Management: We strive to minimize waste generation and encourage recycling and responsible disposal of waste. We will work with our suppliers and partners to minimize packaging waste and promote the use of sustainable materials. 1.4. Natural Resources: We promote the responsible use of natural resources, such as water and energy, by implementing conservation measures and supporting initiatives that prioritize sustainability. We ensure that our tours and activities respect local traditions, customs, and sacred sites. 2.3. Employment and Fair Wages: We prioritise fair employment practices and support the development of local workforce skills. We ensure fair wages, provide equal opportunities, and promote a safe and healthy working environment for our employees and partners. 2.4. We encourage our customers to make conscious choices that support sustainable tourism. 3.3. Collaboration: We actively collaborate with industry stakeholders, government bodies, and NGOs to share best practices, support sustainable initiatives, and contribute to the overall sustainability of the travel industry. Continuous Improvement 4.1. Performance Measurement: We regularly monitor, measure, and report our sustainability performance using relevant indicators and benchmarks. We set targets for improvement and take corrective actions where necessary. 4.2. Supplier Selection: We prioritize working with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to sustainability and adhere to responsible business practices. We consider their environmental and social performance when selecting and evaluating suppliers. 4.3. Innovation: We encourage innovation and the adoption of sustainable technologies, practices, and services that contribute to our sustainability goals. We stay updated with the latest developments in sustainable tourism and incorporate them into our operations. 4.4. Policy Review: We review our sustainability policy periodically to ensure its effectiveness, relevance, and alignment with evolving sustainability practices and regulations. By adhering to this sustainability policy, Exsus Travel aims to be a responsible leader in the travel industry, fostering positive environmental and socio-cultural impacts while providing unforgettable travel experiences for our customers. Together, we can make a difference and build a more sustainable future. Suggested targets: Carbon Emissions Reduction: a. Reduce carbon emissions from company operations (office, transportation, etc.) by 20% per cent in 3 years. b. We will encourage our travel agents to suggest that their clients pay to offset carbon emissions or pay this ourselves (not sure how much this is currently) to neutralise unavoidable emissions from tours, flights and activities. c. Encourage customers to choose low-carbon transportation options and offer low-carbon alternatives (e.g. shared transportation such as trains instead of private transfers, suggesting direct flights where possible). Waste Reduction and Recycling: a. Achieve a 20% waste reduction by implementing effective waste management practices, including recycling, composting, and minimising single-use plastics. b. Promote waste reduction by offering online alternatives to our offline assets, e.g. minimising printed brochures by offering an online version. Water Conservation: a. Educate customers about water conservation practices during tours and provide guidelines for responsible water usage. Local Community Support: a. Aim to include tours and activities facilitated by local companies to avoid leakage of tourism revenue. b. Develop partnerships with local community organisations and/or choose a specific charity dedicated to sustainable tourism that contributes to community development projects, such as education, healthcare, or infrastructure. Cultural Preservation: a. Create a set of guidelines for tour guides and customers to promote respectful behaviour and cultural sensitivity when visiting cultural sites and interacting with local communities. Employee Engagement and Training: a. Provide sustainability training to employees (or provide them with resources) to raise awareness and promote responsible practices within the organisation. b. Engage employees with sustainability initiatives, such as pointing them in the right direction for volunteering for environmental or community projects. Customer Education and Awareness: a. Develop educational materials and share responsible travel guidelines with customers, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and providing tips for minimising environmental and cultural impact. b. Monitor customer feedback and seek opportunities for improvement based on their input. c. Promote sustainability efforts through our marketing, e.g. signposting to offset carbon emissions, linking to charities that promote sustainability etc..
