More About Montenegro

Montenegro is not a destination that immediately springs to mind when considering a European holiday but it should be! There‘s much to see and experience when you visit Montenegro - from the jagged Adriatic coastline with plenty of beaches, coves and bays to the captivating beauty of Kotor Bay plus the picturesque Zeta and Bjelopavlici valleys and high mountains like Bjelasica, Komovi and Durmitor. Overall, it‘s a country with stunning natural beauty and a wonderful destination to pair with Croatia for a twin-centre holiday.

Kotor is one of the most popular resorts with visitors to the country and it‘s easy to see why. Kotor Old City is truly captivating with cobbled streets, medieval-style buildings, grandiose churches, museums, shops and cafes. Hike to the top of the city walls if you're feeling fit and adventurous!

Budva has an interesting old town and it's a good place to stay if you prefer your holiday destination to be a bit more lively as there's plenty to explore plus lots of nightlife too. You can visit the city walls, see the Statua Ballerina, tour the historic Citadel or take it easy and relax on Mogren Beach.

The municipality of Tivat offers a charming small town, the Maritime Heritage Museum, plenty of touring opportunities and Porto Montenegro which has a lovely boardwalk, a wonderful selection of high-end shops and restaurants and it's a top spot to watch the yachts go by as the sun sets over the water.

Getting around varies from place to place, with some resorts having a local bus service but taxis are generally a better way to travel short distances. The old towns of Kotor and Budva are pedestrian-only so best to don some sensible footwear. To travel further afield, hire a car and enjoy total flexibility about where you visit and when.
