PortAventura! | Designer Travel

PortAventura, is situated on the Costa Daurada, the heart of Catalonia. just one hour from Barcelona, ten minutes from Reus airport and virtually on the doorstep of popular resort of Salou. First opened in 1995, PortAventura has grown in size, stature and popularity over the years and now offers an amazing theme park with six contrasting ‘worlds’, an incredible Costa Caribe Aquatic park and four well-appointed 4 star hotels.

Promising something for everyone, PortAventura’s worlds – Mediterrania, Polynesia, Sesamo Aventura (Sesame Street), China, Mexico and Far West, each feature some great rides and daily shows. Each world is themed throughout with their shops and cuisine reflecting the area they represent.

Brand new for 2014, and for the first time in European resort, the amazing Cirque du Soleil will be in residence during the summer with their spectacular circus -style show ‘Kooza’ – a real must-see!

The Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, made up of 50,000 square metres of rides, green zones and water features, is as its name suggests, created with the Caribbean in mind. It contains Europe’s biggest free fall water slide at 31 meters, definitely not for the faint hearted!

It is perfectly possible to visit these great attractions on a day pass if you are holidaying in the area. However you might want to consider being closer to the action for longer by staying in one of PortAventura’s own hotels. The Hotel Gold River (cowboy-themed), and the Hotel PortAventura (Mediterranean in style) both offer direct access to the park, whilst the Hotel Caribe (Caribbean themed) and the Hotel El Paso, (Mexican-style) offer free transfers to the Park. Included with stays in all the hotels are your unlimited access Park tickets, good length of your stay, as well as specially discounted Costa Caribe Aquatic Park tickets. Each hotel has a variety of room categories and restaurants to suit all tastes. In addition, the Hotel El Paso offers an all inclusive board basis, giving access to all hotel food outlets and some within PortAventura Park.

So, if you have done Disneyland Paris, and are not about to go off to Florida, why not consider PortAventura?..a really good fun, family holiday destination!
