The brass plate at the entrance states 'Kasbah Tamadot Richard Branson's Moroccan Retreat' and a retreat it certainly is. Situated in Asni, a little village and marketplace in the foothills of the stunning Atlas Mountains, this is the most perfect place for rest and relaxation. Opened in 2005 the Kasbah Tamadot has 27 beautiful bedrooms and suites including nine luxury Berber Tents, some of which have private plunge pools. Each is individually designed to incorporate traditional Moroccan furnishings and antiques, and each has Berber name to reflect its design. The local inhabitants (the Berbers) and their culture have always played a huge part in this lovely property. Its design is authentic and in keeping with its surroundings. Many local village people (and animals) are employed 'in the front line' at the Tamadot and they bring to the guests, a special charm and opportunity to embrace their culture. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, and fresh mountain air, this is a place to do as much or as little as you like....there is a magnificent outdoor infinity pool, an indoor pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and a very special Asoufou Spa. There are two floodlit tennis courts, and as nightime comes there are cinema nights and star-gazing too! The most wonderful food is served in the stunning Kanoun Restaurant. The food combines local and international flavours, many of the vegetables and herbs are grown in the hotel's own gardens. You may prefer to dine al fresco or up on the rooftop terrace or somewhere private...your choice. Given its location this is the most fantastic area to explore, whether it be on quad bikes or mountain bikes or even on a mule, this has simply got to be done! The Atlas mountains are amazing and as you can see from my photo, provide a stunning backdrop, but they are even more breathtaking to be in the middle of! You can choose from a short one-hour treks to the adjacent village through to a three-hour treks into the Toubkal National Park More intense and challenging excursions can also be arranged.
