Hard Rock Tenerife - an ideal winter break

In search of a few days in the sun last November, we decided on the Hard Rock Tenerife. Reading the weather forecasts before we went, it was not looking good, rain every day. However on arrival the sun was shining and stayed that way for the 5 days we were there...relief! The transfer from airport took about 30 minutes. As soon as you step off the coach and enter the hotel, the music fills your ears. This hotel really rocks! The check in receptionist as all other members of staff wore his name badge with his favourite rock star under his name, so Pablo - Paul McCartney, checked us in. Our room was on the 14th floor in one of the 2 high rise blocks, we had side sea view from the balcony. The only place you can't hear the music is on the room floors and in the rooms, however each room is equipped with high tech so music is available, any type, which plays from Bose speakers in the room. The room is quite unusual as the double sinks are in the room, his and hers. Behind these are the loo pod and the shower pod. Top of the range toiletries from the spa are provided. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board and tea/coffee facilities, safe and mini bar (extra cost) also provided. Very high standard of decor and cleaned daily. The huge entrance to the hotel is spectacular, there is a central stage where live singers entertain. Lots of seating areas and bar to enjoy a drink at any time of day. Eating: Breakfast and dinner available in the buffet restaurant. Every type of food available with vegans also well catered for. My favourite was the steak restaurant but, as with the other restaurants, this gets booked up so make sure you book in advance. You can do this by phone from your room or just turn up but you may have to wait. In the day the Beach Club bar, open from 12-5 offers amazing food. Other snack bars around the various pools also offer food. There is an Oriental restaurant and a Spanish Tapas Restaurant too - remember to book in advance. There is also a Sports Bar with huge screens for all sports fans so you never have to miss a match. In the Nirvana Tower check out the rooftop bar on the 16th Floor, open evenings only. Pools: An adult only pool is a great place to relax and has (just a few) wonderful cabanas so you have to get up early to make sure you get one. Two other pools are available which are more family friendly. The main pool has a small man made 'beach' and beyond this is the beach, which is volcanic and not very attractive in my opinion. Better beaches can be found in other resorts. Outside the hotel there is a small 'strip' with a handful of bars, shops and restaurants. Take the hotel complimentary shuttle to Playa del Duque, a nearby resort with a huge shopping centre. Just one thing to be aware of, at the time of writing (Dec 18) there is building work going on next to the hotel. It is visible from some parts of the hotel and most of the time the music drowns out any noise. It certainly did not spoil my enjoyment or affect my holiday. I would definitely return and would recommend this hotel for families, couples and singles.
