On the Sinai Peninsular on the Red Sea, imagine warm crystal clear waters, a diving paradise, exotic fish and magnificent corals set against white sand beaches and amazing desert landscapes and you have arrived in Sharm El Sheikh.
Only 5 hours flying time and warm temperatures all year, Sharm el Sheikh was originally a small fishing village, until the early 1980's when it became a popular diving destination. Now the resort stretches for miles and is divided into different areas.
Na'ama Bay
The main and busiest part of Sharm. Here you will find many hotels and a beautiful paved walkway along the seafront. There is an amazing choice for eating ,drinking and shopping. You could even try a 'Sheesha' in one of the many cafes or dance the night away in one of the nightclubs. There is also an amazing waterpark that I have been to twice with my family,
Nabq Bay
I have stayed here twice as it is more low key. Most hotels are directly on the beach with board walks into the tranquil waters of the Red Sea. The marine life is amazing, so many bright and colourful fish and coral to see without having to go on a trip!! Outside the hotels we enjoyed visiting the shops, malls and bazaars. There are bars, restaurants and cafes and we enjoyed a great meal at TGI Fridays!!
Other areas include Sharks Bay and El Pasha Bay. Hadaba and Ras um Sid have a more relaxed feel with local bazaars and coffee shops.
Excursions
There are so many amazing excursions to experience! We twice joined the snorkelling boat trip to the coral reefs of Ras Mohamed National Park. The marine life is amazing, the water warm and tranquil. Great for the kids too. If you don't want to get in the water take a Submarine trip where you get right up close to the coral and marine life- fantastic.
Desert experiences- so many to chose from. Camel rides, quad bikes or sand buggies if you have children under 16. When the sun sets behind the mountains your breath is taken away by the beauty and calm. Then enjoy a meal in a traditional Bedouin tent under the stars. We also enjoyed this trip including an amazing star gazing experience, with the help of a professional astronomer, as there is hardly any light pollution the sky and night is a feast for your eyes.
Excursions can also be take by air or coach to Luxor or Cairo.
There are so many other things to experience, Waterparks, learn to dive trips, Yacht hire, golf, Moses Mountain at St Catherines Monastery, several fantastic shopping Malls.
There really is something for everyone. You don't even need a visa as long as you don't leave the resort. However, if you do plan to visit Luxor or Cairo they you must purchase a visa on arrival at the airport, you cannot get these in resort.
Please give me a call if you would like any further information. I just love this place!
