LUX* South Ari Atoll Maldives

We have just returned home from what can only be described as the most incredible honeymoon! We were extremely fortunate to spend three weeks in the Maldives—yes, three weeks! It truly was the most perfect honeymoon, and we couldn’t have asked for anything more!

The first nine Nights of our stay were spent at the amazing LUX* South Ari Atoll. We arrived at the island by seaplane, which is approximately a 30-minute ride from Malé International Airport. Flying over the Maldives is such a pinch-me moment—there’s nothing that quite compares!

We had booked to stay in one of their Romantic Overwater Villas with a Pool. These villas are decorated so well, bright and airy with some very cool features. We loved the infinity pool with endless sea views. These villas even come with a projector screen to watch movies in bed! We had booked the All Inclusive package, including the mini-bar is fully restocked daily, with water, beers, soft drinks, wine, spirits, snacks & sweeties! There are even complimentary Lux flip flops, caps, kaftan & and fan… which come in handy! These villas could sleep up to 2 adults & 1 teen but are perfect for couples!

A picture-perfect paradise in every possible way. This is the perfect island for everyone, honeymoons, couples & families. They have something to suit everyone. Ultimate luxury with the perfect sandy beaches & views for days, the food and service have both been impeccable. With 5 bars & 8 restaurant options varying for lunch/dinner which includes 2 buffets, there is so much choice! As someone who isn’t always a fan of buffet restaurants, these are the best I’ve ever experienced, always endless choices available!

Once a week they offer themed nights at one of the buffet restaurants, there is a small fee for these experiences, the price depending on your board basis but 100% worth every penny. We opted to try the Maldivian & Lobster BBQ nights. On both nights you choose your seafood, fish, meats etc and they are cooked on the BBQ on the beach in front of you, such an incredible, unique and authentic Maldivian experience! The amount of food available is phenomenal. At the lobster night, we had way more than the two of us could ever eat but the chef insisted we tried a bit of everything and it did not disappoint, we got way more than our money‘s worth!

We were very kindly allowed to experience the search for Whale Sharks excursions, sadly we did not get to see any whale sharks, however, I did manage to tick off something that was on top of my bucket list, swimming with turtles! I nearly didn’t get in the water, as most of you know I have a massive fear of fish and for all I had been quite literally dipping my toes at any opportunity the panic started setting in, getting into the middle of the ocean with so many other people around me was a little overwhelming but I did it, I’m so proud of myself and it was THE MOST INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! Certainly, one we will never forget!

This resort will forever hold a special place in my heart, not only because it is hands down one of the best places, I have ever been but we also had our wedding blessing here! Saying I do with nothing but white Sands & Turquoise blue seas surrounding us was the day I’ve always dreamed of! The biggest thank you to the wedding coordinator Jazz as she pulled out all of the stops to bring my vision to life. Without a shadow of a doubt, I would recommend a destination wedding & for a true piece of paradise you need to consider LUX* South Ari!
