Switzerland has some of the most dramatic scenery in Europe with deep gorges, beautiful lakes and spectacular mountains.

Switzerland has a very moderate climate with very few extremes of temperature. July and August are the hottest months with average temperatures between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius.
The coolest months are January and February with temperatures averaging between -2 and 7 degrees.
Temperatures are cooler in the mountains with snow expected in the winter.
The ancient city of Geneva is simply beautiful and is easily discovered by foot. There are some stunning landmarks including the 850 year old St Peters Cathedral. Geneva is renowned the world over for its’ watch making industry and to celebrate the fact, there’s a magnificent flower clock situated in the English Garden near Lake Geneva. It’s the biggest flower clock in the world.
One of Europe’s greatest rail journeys, the Glacier Express winds its’ way through spectacular scenery, over stunning viaducts and through the Rhine gorge. You can travel on the train between Zermatt and St Moritz in the Swiss Alps.
For the more energetic, there are over 5000 miles of fantastic cycle trails throughout Switzerland. Most of them offer easy cycling, but if you need a challenge, try taking the trails around the Matterhorn. Cycle hire is available at some railway stations.
