Location

Accommodation

Our lodging is designed for guests with different desires – from one or two people looking for a quiet retreat to those on vacation with a large family.

Borgo Pignano’s rooms, suites, maisonettes and villas (with private swimming pools) almost always can be tailored for particular needs.

Accommodation

Rooms & suites

Borgo Pignano’s eighteenth century villa is surrounded by gardens overlooking pristine landscapes of Tuscany that Renaissance artists such as Filippo Brunelleschi and Piero della Francesca, would still recognize.

Perched on a hilltop, the villa’s rooms offer views of olive groves, vineyards, fields, woods and ravishing sunsets.

Accommodation

Maisonettes

The Maisonettes have been fashioned from the buildings near the main villa which once were homes for people who worked at Borgo Pignano until shortly after World War II.

They range in size from one to three bedrooms (all with en-suite bathrooms). Each features a small kitchen and comfortable living area.

Accommodation

Villas

Borgo Pignano has six villas of various sizes. They are available separately, but large families or groups of friends often choose to occupy two or three.

Each of the villas has a generous, heated swimming pool and comes with an electric buggy and, best of all, concierge service.

Dining

Borgo Pignano offers a choice of restaurants that match appetite and desire with time of day.

Everything begins with the land – the source for as many ingredients as we can muster. Our wheat and barley, reared from antique seedstocks, give us the grains for our daily breads and pasta. Chickpeas, lentils, and spelt offer the kitchen staff other stocks from which they can improvise.

The Valdarno chickens that roam among the olives provide free-range eggs; our Cinta Sensese pigs yield aged prosciuttos, our bees spend the summer months buzzing about their hives from which we extract honey, and the olive groves and vineyard generate our oils and wine.

Breakfasts are made for lingering, and lunch and dinner are served at times that suit everyone – irrespective of whether their dining routines were fostered by Southern European customs.

One presence hovers over everything – our Michelin starred chef, Stefano Cavallini. He was recently awarded his first Green Michelin Star – an accolade held by fewer than 300 chefs in the world.

The Green Star is presented to restaurants that adhere to strict environmental standards, use locally supplied products, eliminate waste and favor suppliers who use recyclable packaging materials.

Villa Pignano Michelin Green Star

Our Michelin-star restaurant is Villa Pignano which features a refined and innovative menu.

The gastronomic restaurant Villa Pignano has a refined and innovative menu. The dishes are approachable and include Chef Cavallini’s contemporary and lighter interpretations of traditional Tuscan cuisine.

Most of our meats come from nearby and our seafood is delivered several times a week fresh off the boats that ply the waters between Tuscany and Corsica.

All desserts and chocolates are made in the pastry kitchen.

Dinner can be eaten in the Villa’s dining room – recently expanded to include a charming, enclosed gazebo or outdoors on the terraces.

Al Fresco Restaurant

During the summer our Al Fresco restaurant offers an informal, relaxed dining experience much loved by children fond of fresh pizza and heaped servings of pasta.

But there is plenty too for everyone - such as bistecca fiorentina, various salads (including the perennial favorite, the caprese) -and, when available, octopus and branzino.

Many of these dishes are prepared over an outdoor grill or in the wood-fired pizza oven.

As you might expect, our Borgo Pignano wines, and olive oil are on standby duty along with a selection of locally brewed beers.

Experiences

Weddings

Borgo Pignano offers a heart-stopping location for weddings.

During the past decade, as the sun begins to set above the Tuscan hills, several guests have gone down on bended knee on a cozy terrace above the roof of Borgo Pignano’s eighteenth century villa, to propose to the person they hope will become their life’s companion.

That same conjugal impulse has attracted discerning couples from all over the world to hold their weddings in Borgo Pignano. As it has for centuries, the estate’s Romanesque parish church, San Bartolomeo still rings its bells for weddings and celebrations.

A Borgo Pignano wedding can offer pre-and post-wedding activities available for all guests. Spa treatments, wine-tasting, cooking lessons, yoga classes and horseback riding can all be arranged. Borgo Pignano has an atmosphere of restrained elegance, and friendly, unobtrusive service.

We have in-house wedding experts who can manage all your arrangements and Borgo Pignano offers numerous locations in which celebrations can take place, such as: the belvedere terrace, drawing room, art gallery, historic ballroom, secluded woodland setting, frescoed library, banqueting hall, historic courtyard or the steps of Borgo Pignano’s church. Wedding photographers have oodles of backdrops and textures from which to work.
