Think Cruising isn't for you? Here's why you're WRONG | Designer Travel

Cruising is in my blood, I have enjoyed years of seeing interesting ports of call, but for me, the real joy of cruising is that it takes so much of the hassle out of seeing the world.  After the initial journey to join your ship, which may involve the stress of air travel and traffic on the motorways, you can unpack and unwind and let the world come to you.

I hear all sorts of reasons why not to cruise:

  • “If you’ve done one you’ve done them all”… Nothing could be further from the truth, There are so many ships and destinations, each offering something different.  I went on my first river cruise last year with Uniworld  from Bordeaux, pure luxury and wonderful excursions, full board and complimentary drinks, flights from your local airport and transfers, all provided in your holiday cost.
  • “It will be just like Butlins”…  Large size ships do have lots of entertainment on board, to meet the requests of many different customers. A family or couple, retired couple or newly married couple plus single guests all share a quality hotel on the sea and there are different types of entertainment on offer but you can find many quiet areas of the ship if you do not wish to party.
  • “I’ll soon get bored”…   Boredom is not an option!! There are so many ports of call to explore.  One cruise line Azamara, (smaller ships) specialise in staying late in port so you can enjoy the nightlife there, such as Monte Carlo or a visit to the World famous Casino.

How to pick your perfect cruise

There are ships that hold 50 people and floating cities with more than 6,000 passengers and every size in between. Decide when and where your fancy cruising and I will be more than happy to advise which cruise line would suit you.
